Classification of Quartz Material Fabrication Processes

The electric melting process can be further divided into specific methods such as vacuum capacitance, two-step method, and continuous melting. The principle is to use electricity as the power source, heating through resistance, electric arc, and medium frequency induction, etc., to melt the powder and produce quartz glass. The advantage is high efficiency, but the disadvantages include metal contamination caused by contact melting process and the inability to effectively remove bubbles and streaks formed during the rapid melting process. Therefore, this method is mainly applied in the electric light source industry for lighting.

The gas refining process can be subdivided into a one-step method for single molding and a two-step method for gas refining and electric melting processing. The characteristic of the one-step method is that the degree of glassification of the powder material is relatively low, and the product has good high-temperature resistance characteristics. The disadvantage is the poor appearance, with visible obvious channel-like annular patterns. Since the hydrogen-oxygen flame is used as the thermal power, the hydroxyl content of materials produced by the gas refining method is generally higher.

Choosing quartz materials boils down to three main considerations. Firstly, the content of impurities is crucial. This can be addressed by requesting samples from suppliers for chemical purity analysis, directly obtaining specific data on the content of 13 types of impurities. This data can then be compared with the requirements of the process. If it exceeds the standards, the material cannot be selected.

Secondly, the choice of processing technology must be aligned with the application's unique requirements. For the fiber optics industry, which demands the quartz material's infrared transmission capability, only high-purity imported powder plus plasma arc welding process for quartz material production, or synthetic quartz material produced through chemical synthesis process can be selected. For semiconductor processes, materials obtained through gas refining or plasma methods are preferred, while for less critical applications like electric light sources that do not require high purity of quartz material, more economical electric melting materials can be chosen based on appearance.

Finally, compare the appearance. The appearance of quartz products used in the semiconductor industry refers to two aspects. The first is the glass processing accuracy and the material level of the product. For quartz boat-type automatic rewinding wafer carriers, if the process dimensions are different from the equipment If the requirements are not met, the wafer will be broken after the machine is started;

Holding a quartz boat in your hand, the rods and tubes are covered with bubbles and stains. Who dares to use such a vehicle? The second is the thermal processing technology of the product. A highly skilled thermal processing technician is like a person in life. An artist should strive for perfection and would never hand over a few scraps of materials to users. In the details, we can carefully observe whether the welds of the product are straight, whether the connections are beautiful and elegant, etc.
